// the central coast, nsw

Web design on the Central Coast for trades from the coast to the hinterland, built remotely from Perth.

Donza Plumbing, a Kovus client at Mannering Park, sits on the region's northern edge. A trade here can work the northern lakes, the coastal towns around Gosford and Terrigal, the hinterland or all of them, and the website should say which. Josh builds the site in Perth, and the job runs by phone, video call and email. Website builds cost A$500 to A$1,000; see pricing.

90 km
from the Sydney CBD north to the region's southernmost point. Its northernmost is 80 km south of Newcastle. NSW Planning

The NSW Government’s Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 sets the region between two cities: its southernmost point is 90 km north of the Sydney CBD and its northernmost 80 km south of Newcastle. It is one council area, on Darkinyung country, with the M1 running through it. The plan names Gosford as the regional capital and Tuggerah as the regional city, and it contrasts the coastal towns east of the motorway, like Terrigal and The Entrance, with hinterland settlements such as Somersby and Yarramalong.

That spread is the first thing a trade’s website has to deal with. A plumber at Lake Haven and an electrician at Woy Woy can both say they cover the Central Coast and mean different suburbs. A homeowner in Terrigal wants to know whether the business comes to Terrigal, and a page that names only the region does not tell them.

The second is competition. At the 2021 Census, 14.6% of employed Central Coast residents were technicians and trades workers, against 12.9% nationally, so a homeowner here has plenty of local trades to choose from. The population is also older than Australia’s as a whole, with a median age of 43 against 38, which is worth remembering when deciding how the site reads on a phone.

What sets one trade apart from the next is specific pages: the suburbs it really works, the jobs it has done in them, and how far it travels to get there. That is what the Donza build below does for the northern end of the region, and what a site for a trade around Gosford, Terrigal or Woy Woy would do for its own suburbs.

Trade pages for Central Coast businesses

Donza Plumbing's website. The business is based at Mannering Park, at the northern end of the Central Coast, and works from the lakes north into Lake Macquarie and Newcastle. Donza Plumbing, Mannering Park, NSW: about 35 km from Gosford in a straight line.

Donza Plumbing is a family-owned plumbing and gas company at Mannering Park, on the northern edge of the Central Coast Council area. The NSW Government's regional plan places Mannering Park in its Central Lakes district. Before the build, the business's whole public presence was an Instagram account that said to DM for a quote. There was no website and no Google Business Profile.

The site went live with 139 pages covering 100 suburbs and has grown to 150 pages and 103 suburbs. Its Central Coast pages run from Mannering Park, Lake Munmorah and Gwandalan down through Toukley, Wyong and Warnervale to The Entrance and Bateau Bay, and inland to Yarramalong. The rest run north into Lake Macquarie and Newcastle, each page written for the suburb it names.

Several of those pages lead with a real job. Bateau Bay opens with a three-room renovation, from an old external sewer stack renewed in 100 mm PVC to the fit-off of a new bathroom, powder room and laundry. Yarramalong opens with a bathroom plumbed from open-floor drainage to a double vanity and freestanding bath. The Entrance says the business is about 20 km away and that a job there is booked as a dedicated visit at the southern end of its map. The job, the suburb and the distance, stated plainly, is what makes a Central Coast suburb page worth reading.

How a Central Coast build runs the same way Donza's did.

Donza's site was built in Perth for a business at Mannering Park, so this is not a new arrangement. The Central Coast keeps Sydney time, two hours ahead of Perth from April to October and three during daylight saving, so a call after the day's work is mid-afternoon for Josh. The build needs one scope call, photos of real jobs, your licence and ABN, and the suburbs you actually drive to.

  1. 01

A call first, by phone or video

We talk through what the business does, the jobs you want more of and where they come from. On-site meetings are only offered around Perth, so for a business on the Central Coast the whole build runs by phone, video call and email.

  2. 02

A written quote before anything starts

Every page, integration and launch check is listed in the accepted quote, with the price, before the build starts. Only the work the accepted quote lists is included.

  3. 03

Built in Perth, checked on your phone

I write and build the site myself in Perth. You review it on a preview address, on your own phone and computer, and send changes by email or on a call.

  4. 04

Live on your domain, and yours

The site goes live on your own domain. You own the website, content, domain and source code. A typical build takes about four weeks from kickoff to launch.

Perth hours, in Central Coast time

Josh works Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm in Perth (AWST). Western Australia has no daylight saving, so the gap is two hours for half the year and three for the other half.
WhenIn Perth (AWST)In Central Coast
October to April, daylight saving8am to 6pm11am to 9pm (AEDT)
April to October8am to 6pm10am to 8pm (AEST)

Daylight saving in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania runs from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April (NSW Government). A call after knock-off at 5pm on the east coast is 2pm or 3pm in Perth, depending on the season, so it lands in the middle of the working day.

What a Central Coast website costs, and what the monthly plans can do from Perth.

The prices are the same as for a business in Perth, with nothing added for distance, because the whole build runs by phone, video call and email. A standard build is A$500 to A$1,000 and a Premium build for a bigger site starts at A$1,000.

The SEO plan, from A$197 a month, works on your own Google Business Profile and pages from Perth. It cannot put a Wyong business into the map results for a search made in Terrigal, and Kovus's own Perth listing plays no part: Google weighs how close a business is to the person searching and decides the map itself. The plan keeps your profile's categories, photos and service areas right, asks customers for reviews the way Google allows, and works on the suburb pages that compete in the organic results across the rest of the region.

Questions from owners on the Central Coast.

Can we see a Central Coast suburb page before we start?
Yes. Donza Plumbing's live pages for Mannering Park, Bateau Bay, Yarramalong and The Entrance are linked above. Bateau Bay and Yarramalong lead with a real job, and The Entrance says how far the business travels to get there. Open one on your phone, then picture the same page with your own jobs and suburbs in it.
We work on both sides of the Lake Macquarie boundary. Should the site treat them differently?
For a plumber, yes, because some of the rules change at the boundary. Donza's own pages show it: on its Central Coast pages, Central Coast Council supplies water and sewer and backflow test reports are lodged with Council, while on its Lake Macquarie pages Hunter Water supplies them and the reports are lodged with Hunter Water. A business that crosses the boundary needs suburb pages that get each side right, not one paragraph for both.
Should the coast and the hinterland get different pages?
If you work both, yes. The NSW Government's regional plan contrasts the coastal towns east of the M1, like Terrigal and The Entrance, with hinterland settlements such as Somersby and Yarramalong. A job in a unit near the water and a job on a rural block up the valley are different work, and each page should lead with the work that place actually gets.
A lot of our customers are older. Does that change the site?
It can. The Central Coast's median age was 43 at the 2021 Census, against 38 nationally. The site should put the phone number where a thumb finds it, keep the text large enough to read without zooming, and explain what moves the price before anyone has to ask. That helps every reader, and it matters most to the ones who would rather call than fill in a form.
How much does web design on the Central Coast cost?
A standard build costs A$500 to A$1,000, quoted in writing for the pages and integrations the business needs. A Premium build, for a bigger site built to a higher finish, starts at A$1,000. Ongoing work is optional: A$97 a month covers hosting, security, backups and unlimited edits, and from A$197 a month adds SEO and Google Business Profile work.
Who owns the website, and is there a contract?
The client owns the website, content, domain and source code from launch. The monthly plans are month to month with no minimum term, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the current paid month.
Will the site rank on Google?
No quote includes a ranking, because Google decides that. The build covers the pages, structured data and mobile speed that search engines read. The SEO plan then works on the Business Profile, Search Console, directory listings and review requests each month, with a report on what changed.
