Web design in Berwick for trades working Casey's old streets and new estates, built remotely from Perth.

Berwick is one of the oldest parts of the City of Casey, which its council calls the most populous in Victoria. The village and its established streets sit on one side of the work, new estates on the other, and a trade here gets searched for both kinds of job. The site is built by Josh in Perth, and the whole job runs by phone, video call and email. Website builds cost A$500 to A$1,000; see pricing.

Berwick is old by Melbourne’s south-eastern standards. The City of Casey’s own history puts the township’s survey in the early 1850s, and the Berwick Village structure plan covers the traditional village commercial centre and runs south to the Casey Hospital, Monash University and Chisholm Institute sites.

Around that core, Casey keeps building. The council’s 2025 to 2029 Council Plan describes Casey as one of the fastest growing local government areas in Australia and the most populous council in Victoria, and the council lists sixteen growth areas with their own precinct structure plans, from Berwick Waterways and Clyde North to Cranbourne East and Thompsons Road. Officer and Pakenham, just east, sit across the boundary in Cardinia Shire.

That gives a Berwick trade two different customers. One owns an established house near the village and searches for repairs, maintenance and renovation. The other has just taken handover of a new house on an estate and searches for what it came without: a driveway, paths, fencing, a deck, a garden. They type different words, worry about different things and compare businesses on different evidence. A single page that says the business covers Berwick and surrounds does not speak to either of them.

The people doing the work live here too. At the 2021 Census, 15.7% of employed Casey residents were technicians and trades workers, against 12.9% nationally, so a homeowner here has no shortage of local trades to choose from. A site that names the suburbs and estates it actually works, and shows real jobs from them, is how a Berwick trade stands apart from the next one.

Trade pages for Berwick businesses

/ A Kovus build in Melbourne

A Melbourne plumber's site that keeps rough-in and fit-off apart.

AquaCore Plumbing homepage: The half of your house you never see, beside a drawing of the water, gas and sewer lines
AquaCore Plumbing's website. The business is registered in Dallas, in Melbourne's north, and works across Melbourne and the north-western suburbs. AquaCore Plumbing, Melbourne, VIC: about 55 km from Berwick in a straight line.

AquaCore Plumbing is registered in Dallas, in Melbourne's north. Before the build it had an Instagram account with nine posts of real jobs, no website, no Google Business Profile and no published phone number, and bookings ran through direct messages.

The part of that build that matters most for a Berwick trade is how it treats new work. The site has a page for renovation rough-in, and the homepage sets a rough-in photo beside a fit-off photo and captions them as two different jobs, so a visitor never reads the pair as a before and after. On estates where the same trade does the rough-in for a builder and the fit-off for an owner, that kind of honesty is the difference between a page that reads true and one that does not.

The job record lists nine jobs from the business's own posts, from a sewer relocation in Airport West to a hot water replacement in Glenroy, each linked to the post it came from. The ABN sits on every page, and the about page says no licence number is published because it has not been verified. Nothing on the site claims more than the business can show.

/ Built remotely from Perth

How a Berwick build runs while the estates keep you on site.

The build asks for very little of your time: one call to scope it, real photos from your phone, and replies to a preview when you get a moment. Victoria is two hours ahead of Perth from April to October and three hours ahead during daylight saving, so a message sent from a Clyde North site at knock-off reaches Josh in the middle of his afternoon.

  1. 01

A call first, by phone or video

We talk through what the business does, the jobs you want more of and where they come from. On-site meetings are only offered around Perth, so for a business in Berwick the whole build runs by phone, video call and email.

  2. 02

A written quote before anything starts

Every page, integration and launch check is listed in the accepted quote, with the price, before the build starts. Only the work the accepted quote lists is included.

  3. 03

Built in Perth, checked on your phone

I write and build the site myself in Perth. You review it on a preview address, on your own phone and computer, and send changes by email or on a call.

  4. 04

Live on your domain, and yours

The site goes live on your own domain. You own the website, content, domain and source code. A typical build takes about four weeks from kickoff to launch.

Perth hours, in Berwick time

Josh works Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm in Perth (AWST). Western Australia has no daylight saving, so the gap is two hours for half the year and three for the other half.
WhenIn Perth (AWST)In Berwick
October to April, daylight saving8am to 6pm11am to 9pm (AEDT)
April to October8am to 6pm10am to 8pm (AEST)

Daylight saving in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania runs from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April (NSW Government). A call after knock-off at 5pm on the east coast is 2pm or 3pm in Perth, depending on the season, so it lands in the middle of the working day.

What a Berwick website costs, and what the monthly plans can do from Perth.

The prices are the same as for a business in Perth, with nothing added for distance, because the whole build runs by phone, video call and email. A standard build is A$500 to A$1,000 and a Premium build for a bigger site starts at A$1,000.

The SEO plan, from A$197 a month, works on your own Google Business Profile and pages, and that work is the same from Perth as from Narre Warren. It cannot make your listing show in the map for estates you are not near, and Kovus's own Perth listing does nothing for you. Google decides the map and weighs distance. The plan keeps your categories, photos and service areas right, asks customers for reviews the way Google allows, and works on the suburb and estate pages that compete in the organic results.

Questions from owners in Berwick and the City of Casey.

Is a web designer in Perth a risk for a Berwick business?
The real risk with any web designer is not owning what you paid for. With Kovus you own the website, content, domain and source code from launch, and the monthly plans are month to month, so you can move the site to anyone, in Melbourne or anywhere else. Being in Perth changes the hours of the calls, not who owns the site.
Should Berwick and the new estates have different pages?
Usually, because the jobs differ. A house near Berwick Village may need repairs, re-roofing or a renovation, while a house on a new estate needs what the builder left out: a driveway, fencing, a deck, landscaping. Each page should lead with the work that suburb actually generates. A page that swaps one suburb name for another reads as a template, to people and to Google.
Do we need pages for Officer and Pakenham as well?
Only if you work there. Officer and Pakenham are in Cardinia Shire, not the City of Casey, so a Berwick business that crosses the boundary is working in two council areas. If you regularly do jobs there, they earn a page each. If you go once a year, they belong in the service area list.
What photos should a Berwick trade put on its site?
Real ones from your phone, from jobs you can name: a finished driveway on a Clyde North estate, a re-roof near the village, a deck going down on a new block. Caption each one with the suburb and the job, and keep the stages of different jobs apart, so a rough-in shot is never read as the before of someone else's fit-off. Stock photos tell a customer nothing about your work, and a photo from the street they live in tells them a lot.
How much does web design in Berwick cost?
A standard build costs A$500 to A$1,000, quoted in writing for the pages and integrations the business needs. A Premium build, for a bigger site built to a higher finish, starts at A$1,000. Ongoing work is optional: A$97 a month covers hosting, security, backups and unlimited edits, and from A$197 a month adds SEO and Google Business Profile work.
Who owns the website, and is there a contract?
The client owns the website, content, domain and source code from launch. The monthly plans are month to month with no minimum term, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the current paid month.
Will the site rank on Google?
No quote includes a ranking, because Google decides that. The build covers the pages, structured data and mobile speed that search engines read. The SEO plan then works on the Business Profile, Search Console, directory listings and review requests each month, with a report on what changed.
