// free tool · tradie website check
Free tradie website check.
Enter your website address and pick your trade. The check reads your homepage and looks for 12 things from my 30-point tradie website checklist, from a tap-to-call link and a quote form to your licence number, your ABN and LocalBusiness structured data.
It reads the homepage HTML only. It doesn't measure speed, rankings or reviews.

This homepage is over 2 MB, so only the first 2 MB was read. Items near the bottom of the page, like the footer, may show as missing.
Speed isn't part of this check
Google's PageSpeed Insights loads your homepage in a real browser and tests it on mobile. It's free and opens in a new tab.

Every item links to the part of the checklist that explains it, so you can fix it yourself or hand the list to whoever looks after your site. If you'd rather hand it to me, ask for a quote and I'll say what I'd change and what it costs.

12 things, all on the homepage.
Each one comes from the 30-point tradie website and local SEO checklist, and each result links to the section that explains it.
Served over HTTPS
Browsers label pages without HTTPS "Not secure" in the address bar.
Mobile viewport set
Without it, phones show a shrunk desktop page that has to be pinched and zoomed to read.
Tap-to-call phone link
A tel: link lets someone on a phone call you with one tap.
Enquiry or quote form on the homepage
A form on the homepage lets someone send the job details without hunting for a contact page.
Licence or registration number in the homepage text
In WA, electrical, plumbing, building and painting contractors each have a written rule that puts their licence or registration number in their advertising.
Checklist item 15 · WA licence guide · General information, not legal advice.
ABN shown
An ABN lets a customer look the business up on the public ABN Lookup.
A place name in the page title
The title is the link text in Google results, and naming where you work tells a searcher you cover their area.
Meta description written
Google sometimes shows it as the snippet under your link, so it should say what you do and where.
One main heading (H1)
One main heading tells visitors and search engines what the page is about.
LocalBusiness structured data
It gives search engines your business name, phone number, area and hours in a form they can read.
Link to the Google Business Profile or map listing
It takes visitors from your site to your Google reviews and map listing.
Copyright year is this year or last year
An old year in the footer can make a business that is still trading look closed.
/ How it works
One page, read once.
When you press the button, the Kovus server loads your homepage once, much as a browser would, and reads the page code it gets back. If your address forwards somewhere else, the check follows it, up to 4 times. It stops after 8 seconds or 2 MB of page, and it doesn't run the page's JavaScript. The request is labelled as coming from the Kovus website check, so it's easy to spot in your site's logs.
"Didn't show on the homepage" means the check looked in that HTML and didn't find the item. It may be on another page, inside an image, or added by JavaScript after the page loads. "Couldn't tell" means the HTML gave no clear answer, such as no copyright line to read a year from, or the licence item when the trade is Other. A pass means the item is there, not that it's done well.
The Perth comparisons come from my study of Perth tradie websites, which ran the same checks on 303 homepages.
The licence item follows my guide to licence numbers on WA tradie websites, which quotes the rules for electrical, plumbing, building and painting contractors. General information, not legal advice.
