The business
Bodycote Building is Jack Bodycote’s building company in the Nambucca Valley on the NSW Mid North Coast. Jack is a licensed builder, and the work runs from new homes and full renovations to extensions, decks and outdoor living areas, and custom builds such as a steam sauna lined in western red cedar. Two of the jobs on the site are at Scotts Head and Nambucca Heads.
What they had before
The work was on Instagram, photographed on the job. The domain, bodycotebuilding.com.au, was chosen during this build. Someone in the valley searching for a builder had no page of Jack’s to land on, and no way to see his new homes and his renovations side by side.
What we built
A site built from Jack’s Instagram photos and organised the way a client decides on a builder: the kind of job, whether he has done one like it, and how to get in touch.
The first screen names the trade and the place above the headline, “Licensed builder. Nambucca Valley, NSW”, and the headline is Jack’s own line: “Designed to be used. Built to last.” Behind it, three photos run side by side: a deck, a kitchen under two skylights and the coast. A Send the details button sits in that first screen, and a call button carrying the mobile number stays in view on a phone from 360 px wide.
The Work section gives each kind of job its own page. The new build runs from the slab up and includes the wet areas of a new build at Scotts Head, where polished concrete runs level into the tiled bathroom, ensuite and laundry. The backyard transformation replaces an old balcony and pergola with an elevated deck under a flat roof on tall timber posts, with its photos in build order from the before shot. The Nambucca Heads renovation was stripped back to the frame, had a new doorway cut through the blockwork and was fitted out with a new kitchen under exposed rafters, a new bathroom and a sliding door out to a new deck. Where a trade partner did part of a job, such as the kitchen and stone, the project page says so. Splitting the work by project like this is the structure the construction websites page sets out for builders.
The Services section lists new homes, renovations and extensions, and the first two link straight to the project that shows the work. Decks, outdoor living areas and custom builds follow, linked to the backyard transformation, and an Also built section shows decks and the steam sauna. Where we work names the Nambucca Valley, Scotts Head, Nambucca Heads and Eungai, and the footer of every page carries the phone number, the email address, the Instagram account, the licence number and the ABN. The enquiry form hands the details to the visitor’s email app, and if no email app opens, the panel says nothing has been sent and gives the phone number and email address instead.
Jack reviewed the build and his changes went in: the small detail shots came out, his own wording went into the About text, and the turf laying and playground work came off at his request. The site now leads with new homes, renovations and extensions.
Where it stands
The site is live at bodycotebuilding.com.au. Search Console showed all seven pages as indexed on 19 Oct, and on 18 Oct a Google Australia search for the business name returned the site first. In the PageSpeed Insights lab test on 19 Oct the homepage scored 97 to 99 on mobile. Rankings for project searches and enquiries are measured from launch against a baseline of zero. The monthly search work a builder’s site can add after launch is set out on the SEO for builders page. Ten patterns from this site and Probuild Construction Co’s, each with a screenshot, are compared in builder website design examples.
