Privacy, in plain words.

The short version: NurseLock has no account or study backend. Study data and Screen Time selections are stored on this iPhone, and device backups of the iPhone can contain them. The only third parties are Apple and RevenueCat, which handle purchases. The app sends no diagnostics or crash reports. There is no advertising or tracking. Purchase analytics are handled by RevenueCat. We do not sell personal information.

Who we are

NurseLock is an iPhone app for NCLEX-RN study, published on the US App Store as NCLEX RN Exam Prep – NurseLock. It requires iOS 26.5 or later. It is developed by Josh Waller, trading as Kovus, in Perth, Western Australia. Contact josh@kovus.dev for privacy questions or requests.

Information stored on your device

NurseLock stores what it needs to run on this iPhone only. There is no Kovus account, no Kovus server and no cloud sync.

Study data is kept in a local SQLite database on the device, including:

questions, answers and review history, using spaced repetition with FSRS;
personal notes and saved questions;
an optional first name, settings, the daily assignment and a completion outbox.

The app does not use runtime AI or cloud grading. NurseLock does not send study data to a server. Device backups of this iPhone can contain it; this version has no in-app backup export or restore controls.

Screen Time selections

You choose apps or app categories to block with Apple Screen Time (Family Controls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity). That selection is stored only on the device, inside the app's App Group container, and NurseLock does not send it to a server. Device backups can contain app data.

Apple's Screen Time selection tokens are opaque. NurseLock cannot read which apps they represent. The app does not read your use of other apps. It only schedules and lifts its own restriction.

Purchases

NurseLock Pro unlocks the daily drill and Screen Time blocking. Apple processes payment through the App Store. RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States) manages entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier and purchase receipt data for purchase management and analytics. It never receives study data or the Screen Time app selection.

Kovus does not receive your payment-card details. Read RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

Diagnostics

NurseLock sends no diagnostics or crash reports. Sentry receives no information from this app. There is no error-reporting switch in this version.

A local journal on this device records what NurseLock's blocking did: time, process and event. It contains no question text and no app names, stays on the device and is not sent anywhere.

NurseLock has no advertising or behavioural analytics service. RevenueCat analyses purchase records as described above.

What we do not collect

NurseLock never requests location, camera, microphone, contacts or health access. Apple and RevenueCat are the service providers receiving purchase information.

Where service data is processed

Purchase records are processed by Apple and by RevenueCat in the United States. Overseas providers can be subject to the laws of the countries in which they operate.

Retention, backups and deletion

Local information remains until you remove the app; deleting the app removes it. Device backups of this iPhone can contain study data. This version has no in-app backup export or restore controls and no delete-all-data screen.

Purchases are separate from study data: restoring purchases brings back App Store access, not study history.

Before deleting the app, remove its restrictions through Settings → Help with blocking so the block does not linger. If NurseLock is already deleted and a block remains, review Screen Time access for NurseLock in iPhone Settings and restart the iPhone.

Apple and RevenueCat also retain information under their own legal and operational obligations. Deleting NurseLock does not cancel a subscription.

Access, correction and privacy complaints

Email josh@kovus.dev to ask what personal information Kovus holds about you, request correction or deletion, or make a privacy complaint. Because study data and Screen Time selections stay on the device, Kovus does not hold a server copy of them. We will acknowledge a complaint and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Children

NurseLock is designed for adult nursing students. It is not directed to children under 13.
