Is DishReveal medical advice?
No. DishReveal provides nutrition estimates and general wellness tools. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, and it does not replace advice from a doctor, dietitian or other qualified health professional. Nutrition needs vary. Call 000 in an emergency in Australia.
Who can use DishReveal?
Adults only. You must be at least 18 years old, and onboarding will not build a plan for an age below 18. Calorie targets, deficits and weight-loss pacing are not appropriate for children or adolescents without professional supervision, and the AI provider that powers photo analysis, text analysis, Coach and weekly reports requires the same age limit.
Why is a photo result an estimate rather than a measurement?
A photo cannot weigh a portion. DishReveal combines published equations, deterministic nutrition maths and AI-assisted food recognition, and every photo result is an editable estimate. The app shows its assumptions and a confidence level so you can correct the entry before saving it. Themethodology page explains how each number is produced.
What can be wrong, and what should I do about it?
Calorie targets, macro targets, photo estimates, barcode records, label recognition, Coach answers, progress projections and weekly reports can all be incomplete or wrong. Treat them as a starting point, edit anything that looks off before saving, and do not rely on DishReveal for a decision that needs clinical accuracy.
Do I need an account?
You can finish onboarding without signing in. After onboarding, Sign in with Apple is required. The food diary, manual entries, barcode lookup and on-device nutrition-label scanning are free. Pro is optional for AI meal estimates, photo analysis, Coach and weekly reports. Choosing Use the diary does not start a trial or purchase. Your food diary is still stored in a private on-device database and in your own device backup. Kovus does not keep a server copy of it. Online features send only what they need for the task, and meal photos use private temporary storage that is removed after analysis. The privacy policy sets out the exact data flow.
What does a subscription cost?
Annual Pro is A$59.99 per year after an eligibility-dependent 7-day free trial. Monthly Pro is A$14.99 per month with no free trial. The food diary, manual entries, barcode lookup and on-device nutrition-label scanning are free. There is no weekly plan in this catalogue. The App Store shows the price and currency for your storefront before you confirm. Billing, renewals, refunds and tax are handled by Apple under App Store rules.
How do I restore a purchase?
Use Restore Purchases if an active subscription is not recognised. Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the Apple ID used for the original purchase. Pro access depends on a valid App Store transaction and the matching entitlement. If it still does not appear, email support.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancelling stops future renewals and Pro access continues until the end of the paid period. The free diary remains available after Pro ends. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription, and neither does deleting your DishReveal account.
How do I export or delete my data?
You can export your local data before using Delete Account. Account deletion removes any outstanding private uploads, revokes the stored Apple credential where available, deletes the authentication user and removes or unlinks linked server records, then wipes the local diary, Coach history, profile, settings, reminders and queued uploads. Cancel any Apple subscription separately.
Does DishReveal collect analytics?
No product-analytics SDK is included. Crash and error reports may go to Sentry after photos, diary text, AI payloads and tokens are stripped. Session recordings are off. Details are in theprivacy policy.
